Simon Godsiff is a 40-year-old Auckland-based cinematographer with more than two decades of experience across feature films, television and commercials.

Beginning his career at Weta Workshop after graduating Film & Television School in 2002, Simon contributed to iconic productions including The Chronicles of Narnia, District 9, Avatar, Elysium, and King Kong. This foundation in visual and special effects informs a cinematography style grounded in technical precision and emotionally resonant imagery.

Simon has collaborated on award winning short films, commercials, and international art projects, most notably Joseph Michael’s immersive installation Antarctica — While You Were Sleeping. His work on the global hit series Thunderbirds Are Go spanned three seasons and 78 episodes, where he partnered closely with CGI lighting teams to integrate miniature cinematography with digital assets.

Equally at home in live-action and virtual production, Simon brings deep expertise in 3D previs, techvis, and LED volume workflows — ensuring ambitious creative visions translate flawlessly to the screen.

Valued for his collaborative spirit, calm leadership, and thoughtful approach to visual storytelling, Simon continues to craft images driven by atmosphere, emotion, and connection.
