Simon Godsiff is an Auckland-based cinematographer with more than two decades of experience working across feature films, television, commercials, and short films.

After graduating from Film & Television School in 2002, Simon began his career at Weta Workshop, contributing to productions including The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, District 9, Avatar, Elysium, and King Kong. During this period, he developed his cinematography through short films, documentary, and hands-on collaborations across a wide range of visual disciplines.

In 2014, Simon joined the miniature unit of ITVs Thunderbirds Are Go, where he spent five years (three seasons) as Director of Photography. Working alongside a team of episodic directors, he helped shape the series’ visual language while developing techniques that combined practical miniature cinematography with digital environments.

Throughout his career, Simon has developed a reputation for his calm leadership and considered approach on set. His experience spans studio and location production, visual effects integration, motion control, and commercial cinematography.
